Our AGM has come and gone. Unfortunately we were a little disappointed that so few members turned up. We did however form a strong committee.
A vote was taken to change item 7.2 in the Articles of Constitution. At present we hold a fairly small treasury and do not receive any funding from outside sources. Costs for an audit, as required in clause 7.2 are excessive to our means and needs. Thus the Constitution has been amended to an annual review by an independent, instead of an audit. As soon as the amendment has been carried out, any member is welcome to request a copy of the amended Articles of Constitution.
President: Julia Anderson, Vice President: Tom Meibusch, Treasurer: Raewyn Frantzen, Meetings Secretary: Tom Meibusch
Other Committee Members: Lynda Storer, Sonja Quirk
NEEDED!!! More committee members willing to help steer this organization into the future. Even if you are interested in being on the committee but are unable to attend every meeting, we’d love to hear from you. We are looking at bi-monthly meetings and if necessary, for out of towners, phone conferencing.
Members not able to be on the committee, but willing to be co-opted onto a sub-committee for a specific purpose such as the workshops, are very welcome. REMEMBER! This is YOUR organization and YOUR input IS important.

NATURAL HEALTH INFO .
Skin Health.
Everything’s a rush these days and any way we can make things easier on our time schedule, and ourselves we believe is worth it. Companies have a tendency to cash in on our desire for quick fixes, which include fast foods and easy cleaning routines both around the house and for our bodies. Unfortunately, we can lose sight of the possible downsides in gaining that extra time. One area of concern is in the products we use to cleanse, moisturise and enhance our bodies. Many of these products contain highly toxic and carcinogenic chemicals. These toxins are not only behind many skin problems, they can also enter the body and cause damage to our organs.
Consider shampoo for instance. Most shampoos contain Sodium Lauryl Sulphate, a foaming agent also found in toothpaste and bubble bath. It is also a main ingredient in floor cleansers and engine degreasers! This substance can penetrate the skin and accumulate in the body’s major organs. It can cause inflammations, eye irritation and underdevelopment, plus it has been linked to lowered sperm counts, stress related illnesses and cancer. Are you having second thoughts about the shampoo in your bathroom?
Check out the labels and look for shampoos, cleansers and beauty aids that are from recognised health companies. Watch ones in the supermarket that state ‘organic’ ‘botanical’ or ‘all natural’ on the labels, it generally means that one or two of the products are ‘natural.’ For instance it may have a few drops of a lesser quality essential or fragrant oil in it. If you suffer from eczema you may wish to check the soap or laundry powder you use. Our bodies are being saturated with chemicals and the toxins can flow out through the largest organ we have – our skin.
There is hope! Many companies are becoming more aware of people choosing to educate themselves on better health practises. These companies are making an effort to create products from less toxic and natural ingredients. Unfortunately few are available in supermarkets and can be quite expensive. There are natural ingredients you can put together yourself for house cleaning and personal cleansing. I will include some recipes for you in the next newsletter that you may like to try.
